Serenity Village’s program emphasizes choice, independence and meaningful participation. We encourage residents to make decisions about their daily lives, from meals and activities to relationships, personal style and goals.
We adapt communication to the individual. That can mean conversation, pictures, gestures, signs or other ways of helping a person express what they want and understand their choices.
Family members and other supporters participate in ways that respect the person’s wishes, privacy and legal rights.

We work alongside each resident’s planning team and regional center service coordinator. Support plans translate goals into clear, practical steps for everyday life.
Learning through everyday experiences
Skills are practiced at home and in the community. A shopping trip might become a chance to practice making choices or managing money. A meal can offer opportunities for communication, preparation and participation.
Positive behavioral support
Our approach looks at what behavior may communicate. Individualized strategies emphasize prevention, positive reinforcement, communication and useful replacement skills.
Reviewing progress together
Daily observations and regular planning-team reviews help identify what is working, where more support is needed and when a goal or strategy should change.
People are encouraged to ask questions, express concerns and take part in decisions about their support. Respect and personal rights are part of everyday care.
